Abstract
This paper explores the theme of empowerment through adversity in Sudha
Murthy's novels Mahashweta and Gently Falls the Bakula. By
employing a feminist analytical framework, the study delves into how Murthy
portrays the struggles and resilience of her female protagonists. The analysis
highlights the intersectionality of gender, culture, and personal growth within
the socio-cultural contexts of contemporary India. The paper argues that
adversity acts as a catalyst for empowerment, leading the protagonists towards
self-realization and autonomy.
